"One of the best 77 style live bands that I have seen over the last couple of years, pure British Punk Rock. Do yourself a favour check them out live" - Roy Heskleth Editor Pogo Til I Die

BOREDOM AD – UNSOILED ENTERTAINMENT e.p

If you prefer your punk polished, tuneful and delivered in old-school style with emphasis on melody rather than mayhem then Boredom AD are your choice of cha. Revitalised and repackaged from a stagnating Boredom (literally) that seemed intent on playing for playings sake this new outfit is the same except frontman Danny has been replaced by Bri ‘Slutcher’ Barnes (UK Subs long time bassist, Slutch frontman etc). The change in desire, delivery and determination is a real eye opener as Barnsey’s general lunacy, enthusiasm and general musical ability has dragged all members to a new level resulting in a band that want it and want it bad. With focus and a more assiduous approach to detail we have been given 6 tracks that show unlimited promise and excellent musical know how. All 6 songs are high calibre affairs with great tunes, great vocals and solid overall composition that retro rockers will adore. Personally ‘Its All About Me’, ‘Lowlife 07’, ‘Vincent Price’ and ‘I Want More’ are quality efforts in all departments and the rehash of ‘Lowlife’ encapsulates the new found spirit and style of this band perfectly. Fantastically easy listening and one hopes this lot capture the chance to achieve their potential rather than, as is too occurent on the punk scene, piss it into the wind. OMD / Fungal Punk

Edinburgh , Spiders Web (14/04/07)

Having heard good reports from a mate who had been at the previous nights gig in Glasgow, decided it would worth a punt to meet up in Edinburgh for the second night of this tour, and the gamble paid off. First time visit to the spiders web, a cellar type venue similar to the cavern in Liverpool which always generates a great intimate atmosphere. First band on was the lead singer of Japanese band Anger Flares backed up by Scottish band United Front,Not sure how much rehersals took place but the set was patchy in parts which produced a few glares from the singer to the rest of the band. Straight up in your face oi! with a japanese edge. Next up Suprisingly were the band who were billed as headlining on the posters and the flyers Boredom A.D from England, which caught out a few of the punters outside having a ciggie and led to a mass stub out and clamour down the stairs. No doubt having a UK Sub in the line up does you no harm but do the band hack it? on this performance the overall concensus was a big thumbs up. Not many new bands can induce people to get up and have a pogo but by the third song the front was awash by bodies .Bri Slutcher plays his new role as a vocalist with a manic determination which leaves you breathless, his vocals complement a very solid high energy 77 inspired sound which sometimes verges on power pop side of things. This band look good, play good and are bloody entertaining, with some well thought out sing along punk tunes and responded to the audiences cries for an encore. Judging by the queue to purchase the cd on sale think they made a big impression on Edinburgh and must possibles for the punk festival circuit in the future. The venue almost emptied after Boredom's set with people dashing outside for air which was unfortunate for the next band on One Man Stand who started their set to a fairly empty venue. 22nd APRIL - THATCHED HOUSE , STOCKPORT , Drex Tour

Next Boredom AD who dished up a real convincing set that was rammed with catchy tunes, great rhythms and the antics of a Mr Brian Barnes (Uk Subs bassist and spoon collector extraordinaire). This was a real good showing and in true 'mentalist' fashion the entire band contributed to a cracking performance. Already 'Vincent Price', 'Lowlife 07', 'All About Me', 'I Want More' and 'Maniac' are etched in the mind due to their catchy chorus lines and quality delivery. The songs are quicker than in past outings and the new metamorphosis has turned a good band into an excellent band. I thoroughly enjoyed it and collected feedback confirmed this opinion. Keep going lads - really fun stuff. OMD Fungal Punk

20th APRIL - THE SHAY , HALIFAX , Drex Tour

This is the second gig Ive seen on this tour and it just gets better and better, unfortunately arrived a bit late and missed local band AB Negatives set and was suprised to see Boredom AD on second (later found out the bands are rotating running orders at each gig), I know its a cliche but this band do rock like motherfuckers, tight , energetic, and with infectious songs that you can't help but join in and sing along. Members of Drex were up on stage joining in the vocals from the opening track "All about me". it's good to see a punk band who set out to entertain and enjoy themselves doing it. They pack about a dozen songs in the 35 minute set and theres not one filler amongst them. This is the third time Ive seen this band in a little over a month and "I want more" Halifax Louie

17th APRIL 07 - ROYAL OAK, POULTON, Drex tour

What a gig - what value - three quid for a night of storming punk rock. Boredom are up next, now fronted by Subs bass player Brian Slutcher Barnes. Free of his encumber some bass guitar the man is manic! He attacks the stage, literally, with the microphone stand, he swings from a beam, he climbs every table and stack he can find. A physical performance which only Sweeny Dead Pet can match. The music now has a more rockier feel with around 15 old and new songs thrown into set. This is great energetic 70s style punk- Boredom could be the new kids on the block, which is kind of strange when they have an aggregate age of around 200 years! . Rob Noxious

DEBUT GIG 10th MARCH 07 - BRADFORD EXCHANGE

Up next the aforementioned, now called Boredom A.D and a debut gig with a new vocalist and drummer. For those that don't know the new singer is UK Subs bass player Bri Barnes, and by crikey was he on fire tonight urging the audience to all come down the front "or ill shoot ya" which did the trick. Like the Duracell bunny on speed he went everywhere apart from the stage, on the bar, on the PA stack, pure entertainment. The whole sound of the band has undergone an overhaul from when I've seen them previously but they have still retained the ability to write bouncy tunes and with a new dynamic in the vocals department surely bigger things await. Halifax Louie

Another swift change over saw Boredom AD take to the stage. What the UK Subs bassist lacks in vocal range he makes up for with his dancing climbing and general lunacy which keep you on your toes not from dancing but more from hoping he doesn't fall on you. Good catchy songs about Vincent Price and such, and a stage invasion by some old fella make this set one of the most entertaining of the night if nothing else..... Steve McHaggis

Boredom AD next with new frontman Brian Barnes aka Slutcher. Was this going to be good or just some punk rock nomad going through the motions just to pay for his spoon collection (you ask him). No way. Barnes is reborn here and really threw in such an enthralling performance has to leave several jaws on the floor. The band responded to Bri's antics by upping their game and this resulted in a classic. Like a primate on heat Barnsey jumped from pillar to post and strutted his stuff in ham and glam style second to none. 'All About Me' was an excellent opener and if anyone can take the piss out of themselves then Brians the man. 'Vincent Price' is a gem and the invasion of the elderly gentlemen and his horror trivia was just a peach and added to the fun atmosphere. The set was a classic and Boredom are a real force to be reckoned with. It was good to hear a few Slutch songs thrown in there as they a really too good to miss out. 'Scared of Lisa' was special and it's a pity 'Love is Dead' was missed due to time restrictions. How good were Boredom – the best yet – and I rated this band anyway so that really is a compliment. Steve Scab looked at me after Boredoms performance and a wry smile with the words 'How do I follow that?' were all he could offer. Go on lad and give it your best. Dave/ OMD

"Boredom AD" are now fronted by Bri Slutcher. (UK Subs bassist) The guy can't sing a note but boy can he entertain. He climbed the PA, he fell in the crowd and he danced with a OAP who was the only one pogoing down the front(?) Again a very competent band and somehow it all works. Songs about "Vincent Price" & "Taxis" are always a winner. Again I didn't think they were going to be my cuppa but again I was pleasantly surprised. Steve Argyle.
