BOREDOM BIO BEFORE THE AD!

THE START

Formed in the summer of 1995 by a group of mates who where "bored" of the current music scene & decided to have one last go at making some noise. The band started rehearsing cover versions of classic punk songs including the Buzzcocks Boredom were the band took their name from. All of the members had played in Punk bands for a number of years both separately and together. The original band consisted of Fouldzie {bass} (now runs Noize Anoize with his partner) , Ian { guitar}, & Dani {vocals}. Sadly due to being unable to secure a regular drummer the band never played live, before long Fouldzie became disillusioned & left.

Over the next 6 years the band had several changes in line up & played numerous well received local gigs before settling on the line up Dani Vocals, Ian Guitar , Stevie Bass and Ersy Drums....... The decision to switch Stevie to bass & install Ersy (former Potential Threat) as drummer paid dividends for the band & they quickly gained a large local following. Early in 1998 they recorded their  first demo & a copy was sent to Abstract records who were so impressed they offered the group a deal.

Due mainly to a lack of promotion by the record company the single failed commercially, which resulted in Boredom & Abstract parting company. Coupled to this internal problems with their management company which were finally only resolved by both parties again parting company. In the back end of `99 played several London gigs the most notable being support to Menace at The Dublin Castle,Camden.

BREAK UP

After 6 years of Boredom UK, Stevie left the band. The rest of the band decided to have a break from doing their own material and installed a new bass player and additional guitarist to form Pinhead a Ramones tribute band.
After two years giging around Lancashire as Pinhead, Ian and Dani encouraged by Noize Anoize decided it was time to bring back Boredom dropping the UK bit of their name. With the reemergence of Boredom the band suffered a set back with Pee Wee (andy) getting his call up papers to go and fight Tony Blair's war in Iraq.

Boredom continued gigging with Geoff on bass and Ant standing in on guitar. With this line up the band secured support slots to Menace and the UK Subs.

In April 2004 Boredom's first release in 5 years the Back and Kicking EP came out to favourable reviews. The E.P featuring four studio tracks, three live tracks and four live video clips went on to sell over 250 copies only available at gigs.

Ste was brought back in on bass and the band continued as a four piece until the return of Pee Wee from the gulf.

A NEW CHAPTER

When Andy returned from the Gulf in November 2004 the band returned to the Studio to record some demo tracks for an anticipated album, even the band were surprised at how good the demos turned out as they featured back up songs only played a few times at gigs. After final mixing and discussions with Noize Anoize Music it was decided to release the five songs as the Low life EP in a limited numbered edition of 100 in December 2004. The ep sold out within two weeks promoting the label to repress after receiving double the number of orders as expected (the ep has gone on to sell over 500 copies and is on its 4th pressing). The band tied by work and family commits continued to gig sporadically but where invited to play the Wasted Campsite in Morecambe 2005 as well as receiving great reviews from support slots with SLF, SHAM 69 and RESISTANCE 77 (both oddie & Kieran are confessed fans of the band)

HERE WE GO AGAIN

The band were asked in October 2005 to be one of the main eight bands that had been selected to take part in the back to basics Spit & Sawdust punk tour. In March 2006 the band entered the studio to record demo tracks for a planned Album, 13 tracks were demo'd and the ok was given by the label to go ahead with the album. Just as the band were recording and rehearsing for the tour bass player Ste Clarke dropped a bombshell announcing he was quitting the band immediately due to work commitments. As a double whammy Ersy was taken ill and is now on extended leave from the band. With no bass player and drummer and a tour only a month and a half away numerous phone calls were made to contacts of the label trying to fill the vacant positions, but unfortunately nobody could commit. Neither the band or the label wanted to pull out of the tour so as a stop gap Andy from Noize Anoize decided to come out of gigging retirement and in turn recruited The Bobby Dazzlers multi talented Andy Cummings on drums. The new line up after 6 rehearsals pulled together enough songs to play sets on the tour and gelled halfway through the gigs to some favourable reviews.

After the tour finishes the new line up will be heading back into the studio to finish the album provisionally titled Riot In My Head.
